MGFF18: The Ring Thing (MA 15+)

MGFF18: The Ring Thing movie poster

From the talented filmmakers who brought us That's Not Us, screened at Mardi Gras Film Festival 2016, comes The Ring Thing: a clever, poignant, honest drama about commitment.

Sarah, played by Sarah Wharton, is on a quest to make sense of her aversion to marrying her beloved partner, Kristen, played by Nicole Pursell. To try and figure things out, Sarah embarks on a documentary filmmaking project about same-sex marriage and enlists the help of her gay friend, Gary, who is dealing with his own marital break-up.

Featuring interviews with real couples and set within a societal context where marriage equality has been achieved, the playful improv style, sincerity and wisdom within The Ring Thing is a graceful, intriguing way to explore the issues of marriage and commitment.
