Told with the elegant artistry of director Vincente Minnelli, the phenomenal choreography and dance of Gene Kelly, and the infectious jazziness of music by Gershwin, An American in Paris is a joyously colourful explosion of emotion.
Featuring a wild New Year's Eve Black & White ball scene which sets the standard by which all other parties could be measured, this 1951 cinema classic is perhaps most famous for its adventurous, groundbreaking finale - a 17 minute dialogue free dance sequence - that's a masterpiece of design, lighting and colour photography! Gene Kelly won an Academy Honorary Award that year for "his versatility as an actor, singer, director and dancer, and specifically for his brilliant achievements in the art of choreography on film".
Cast: Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Oscar Levant, Georges Guétary, Nina Foch

"Vincente Minnelli’s dreamlike musical, An American in Paris, paired the catchy tunes of George and Ira Gershwin with the electric charisma of Gene Kelly. The result is a mesmerizing and romantic anecdote... radical at the time and iconic to this day." AWARDS DAILY
